Welcome to the world, Harvey Preston Michno! part one!

    Birth Story by Mama

It was the day before 41 weeks and mama was a bit grumpy. It was hot, I was huge, had ridiculous bouts of acid reflux, achey body and was more than ready to meet my little boy. It didn't help that almost around the clock I was being pestered with, "Have you had that baby yet?!".

We all went to yet another midwife appointment and even Delilah was over it! "no Mama, I don't wanna see the midwife!" Not that the midwives weren't wonderful but seriously, the past four visits had all been the same. Baby sounds perfect, you're doing perfect, everything's perfect but he won't get out. Sigh. As we were leaving, I said we needed to make another appointment in case he goes another week and Mason (our midwife) said firmly, "He won't." As silly as it sounds, that made me feel better :)

That night, I went to bed early feeling like I might as well make the most of these last days of being pregnant. I decided to start thinking extra positively. I would stop being grump and just be grateful!

I woke up that next morning feeling hopeful and optimistic. I told the girls we could go get some yummy donuts for breakfast because when you are 41 weeks pregnant you DESERVE donuts!! Woohoo! They were happy and our morning routine was a  breeze. We stopped by daddy and uncle Peter's office to get rid of the rest of the donuts so we wouldn't eat a dozen. The girls always enjoy visiting Daddy's "work".

I didn't have anything else planned for the day and it was super hot out. Mark suggested taking the girls to the mall. At first I thought, that doesn't sound fun but then I remembered that they had the new play area and that walking would be good for labor preparation.

We got to the mall and I whipped my huge double stroller out and loaded the girls up. 30lb stroller + 2 30lb kids = GOOD WORKOUT! Let's do this!

I have a cool app on my phone that clocks your mileage while walking so I started that up and told myself I'd try for 3 miles. I wasn't worried about me but more about the girl's getting bored. We walked about 2 miles and I asked them if they wanted to go to the play area. "No, thanks mama" What? Who are these kids?

The reason I had even asked was because I was having some pretty painful contractions and could have used a break! Well, there goes that idea. No biggie, I was so done I'd have that baby anywhere. My midwives were local so they could always come to the mall instead of my house ;)

More walking, more contractions and more perfectly quiet wonderful children who weren't fighting, annoying each other or bothering me about ANYTHING. Was I in the twilight zone? Ouch, these contractions are really hurting and I'm sweating pretty bad...

Okay, I stopped for a moment around mile 3 to get the girls smoothies. After that brief 10 minute break, I figured I'd keep going. Why not?

Now we're at 4 miles and I'm pooped and we're all hungry. Okay, let's go get some food at Nordie's Cafe. Well, being a thousand months pregnant and eating lunch with 2 toddlers is really not my idea of relaxing and I think they were a little "stir crazy" from all of that model behaviour during our walk so it was a bit of a stressful lunch. We all regrouped and I promised that we would go home and take naps ASAP. As we were headed out, I thought to myself I did 4 miles... why not make it an even 5?

So I did that last mile in serious speed walking mode because my girls were over being at the mall. I was exhausted and sweating like crazy. The contractions were strong! They hurt but I was so excited because maybe this baby would be coming soon!

To be continued... (the girl's woke up from nap)
