This is why I'm fat...

We got our first CSA share on Friday and it was a lot of fun!! Our little buddy Oliver (farmer's son who is Delilah's age) wasn't around so we just got our goodies and left. Delilah had a lot of fun helping me measure out the fruits and vegetables though.

Here's the bounty that we received...

cherries, apricots, white peaches, a meyer lemon, fava beans, 2 walla walla onions, swiss chard, bunch of herbs, red butter leaf lettuce and a caramelized onion baguette.

That baguette was ridiculously good!! The four of us were literally fighting over it and bargaining with each other to get just one more piece. Must. Find. Recipe!

So, how is getting a big basket of organic, farm fresh food making me fat you ask? Because I went and made a big delicious cake out of the ingredients! WHAT THE HECK????????

I know, I know. Something is seriously wrong with me but, but, but I have an excuse! We were going to a birthday party and I knew they'd have cake that Delilah couldn't eat so I figured I should make her something to have instead. Yes, I can see how sick it is that I'm using my daughter's dairy allergy to make excuses to make cake. Or maybe I'm just an awesome mom?????

I adapted this recipe from The Pioneer Woman - Strawberry Shortcake Cake. 

I changed it to using dairy free ingredients (tofu cream cheese, coconut milk, etc) and I used the white peaches instead of strawberries.
